The Waterloo Morada Rural County Fire Protection District provides critical emergency life-saving and fire protection services to our community, covering 36 square miles and about 12,000 residents. It is a single-purpose Special District, completely independent from the State, the County of San Joaquin and the City of Stockton.   The Fire District has been consistently been providing critical emergency life-saving and fire protection services without a local tax rate increase for more than 30 years. Not surprisingly, the funding for local fire protection and emergency response services has not kept pace with the increases in demand for services, or with the higher costs for operations and maintenance, despite numerous budget cuts.
 
The District is governed by a Board of Directors elected by local voters. The District serves the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year with a limited number of staff and firefighters.
 
We run a tight ship and haven’t asked the public for a revenue increase in over 30 years!
 
The District responded to over 2,200 calls last year. That number increases every year, and costs continue to rise, and without additional funding will not be able to maintain the current level of service. In addition, our aging facilities are falling behind on necessary repairs, maintenance, and upgrades.
 
This Fire Protection Services Measure includes strict accountability provisions, including an annual financial audit. This is in conjunction with the District’s current transparent financial reporting system.
 
Watch for your Measure N mailed ballot in early April. Ballot are due on May 7.
